If you love your faith and the joy that it brings you through the Catholic Church, it is our hope that this website which is dedicated to nurturing Missionary Disciples will provide you with resources to grow in your personal faith and inspire you to share your faith with others.
Pope Francis has called upon all Catholics to become missionary disciples. In his Apostolic Exhortation, the Joy of the Gospel, he said,
In virtue of their baptism, all the members of the People of God have become missionary disciples (cf. Mt 28:19). All the baptized, whatever their position in the Church or their level of instruction in the faith, are agents of evangelization, and it would be insufficient to envisage a plan of evangelization to be carried out by professionals while the rest of the faithful would simply be passive recipients. The new evangelization calls for personal involvement on the part of each of the baptized. Every Christian is challenged, here and now, to be actively engaged in evangelization; indeed, anyone who has truly experienced God's saving love does not need much time or lengthy training to go out and proclaim that love.
Every Christian is a missionary to the extent that he or she has encountered the love of God in Jesus Christ: we no longer say that we are "disciples" and "missionaries", but rather we are always "missionary disciples." (EG 120)
The genesis for this website was a series of three modules consisting of five talks (Evangelium Project) which were aimed at encouraging Catholics like you to enter more deeply into their relationship with God and to learn the simple ways in which we can help others discover the joy of being Christian. These talks are available as a self-study course on this website.
Continuing on from the foundation of the Evangelium Project, we launched the Parish Mission Plan Initiative in 2024, entitled A Vision for Parishes: Encounter, Discipleship and Mission. Guided by the power of Holy Spirit and grounded in prayer, the aim of this Initiative is to enable our parishes to become missionary, firstly that members of the parish develop a missionary orientation so that the parish can reach out to those that are baptised but not practicing their faith and to engage with the broader community witnessing to our faith in Jesus Christ.
This website offers materials that can inspire missionary discipleship.
